JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for planning and development initiatives necessary to grow the Counseling program on the Overland Park campus. Will work collaboratively with the Arizona unit Counseling program to this end.
The Master of Arts in Counseling graduate program will be taught in blended online and ground format, designed around practical application and mentoring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role):
Work collaboratively with the Division Chair for Counseling & Psychology.
Provide administrative direction for the division in the absence of the chair.
Lead faculty recruitment and ongoing program growth and development.
Recruit and prepare new adjunct faculty for Overland Park.
Conduct regular observations and evaluations of program faculty.
Advocate for scholarship and intellectual engagement (faculty and students)
Manage program financial and material resources
Plan and lead Counseling workforce development
Teach counseling graduate courses
Develop and maintain internship and practicum sites.
Conduct training site visits as needed.
Consult with students who are encountering issues related to their clinical training experiences.
Respond quickly to manage intern issues and problems at training sites.
Serve as the lead professor for Gero-counseling.
Assure knowledge of rules and regulations regarding Counseling in Kansas.
Act as the main liaison between the University and the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB).
Participate in and occasionally lead New Counseling Student Orientation.
Participate in and occasionally lead Field Placement Workshops.
Participate in the bi-weekly Counseling, Addictions, Psychology, Human & Social Services (CAPHSS) team meetings.
Conduct CAPHSS meetings in the Chair’s absence.
Develop and maintain an active professional development agenda and lead program community relations
Actively participate in student recruitment and retention, marketing, program-related networking, and inter-University Counseling Program administrative activities.
Contribute to the mission of Ottawa University through performance, service to the University’s community, and membership on committees.
