This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. This full-time, permanent psychologist is located in the Mental Health Service Line Outpatient Mental Health Clinic as a mental health provider with expertise in the treatment of mental health disorders. The psychologist's primary duties involve provision of diagnostic interviews, assessments, and psychotherapy, for veterans with mental health concerns. MHC Clinic (80%) Provides services to veterans with mental health needs through the provision of evaluations and psychotherapy using the most appropriate evidence-based modalities (i.e., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Depression). Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including individual, and group psychotherapy, psycho-educational groups (i.e., coping skills, anger management), and case management primarily with veterans diagnosed with mental health disorders. Provide some psychotherapy services via tele-medicine, with appropriate training in equipment usage and tele-medicine fundamentals. Facilitates veterans' timely referral to specialty mental health or substance abuse treatment as appropriate. Provides administrative duties in support of clinical service provision including: Scheduling of veterans and related issues; returning veteran's phone calls; report writing; is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the medical center or healthcare system, as appropriate. Other Psychological Evaluations and Consultative Services (10%) Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services for veterans with a range of mental disorders including assessment and use of the most appropriate evidence-based psychotherapeutic modalities in providing quality care. Provides neuropsychological screening assessments for veterans. Provides clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training, including psychology trainees, medical students, psychiatric residents, social work students, and nursing students. Serves as a consultant to other Hospital staff and trainees and assists in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients. Conducts and/or facilitates program evaluation and/or research activities as needed for the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and/or Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Department. Academic/Teaching/Training/Research: (5%) May hold faculty appointment at affiliated university. Provides educational presentations on salient mental health topics for trainees and colleagues of various disciplines. May choose to plan, oversee, or collaborate in the completion of research programs designed to support the mission of NWIHCS. May present outcome data and research results at VA and regional or national scientific or professional meetings, as appropriate. May serve as Psychology Internship Faculty as a rotation or other supervisor. Other Significant Responsibilities (5%) May serve on Medical Center or Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces as assigned. May be asked to represent psychology on decision-making committees within the NWIHCS. May participate in leadership roles on local, state and national professional organizations. May represent the Medical Center or Healthcare System at professional/program community group/events and committees.
