Learn more Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) Behavioral Health Service Line encompasses four Community Based Outpatient Clinics and the main campus which spans three states (MS, AL, and FL) across 300 miles. The Biloxi VAMC Outpatient Mental Health Clinic is customer- service oriented, meeting a variety of emotional, psychological, behavioral, interpersonal, and social needs of patients. The Outpatient Psychologist (Assistant Program Manager) for Eglin and Panama City Beach will assist in overseeing a multispecialty behavioral health clinic of over 40 FTE's, consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurse practitioners, nurses and other multidisciplinary team members who are part of our level IC organization. The incumbent will exercise oversight of clinic services including general mental health, PCMHI, neuropsychology, pain management, tele-mental health, PTSD, MST and Substance use. Assistant Program Manager Responsibilities 1. Broad program manager responsibility for the Biloxi VAMC Outpatient Behavioral Health services. 2. Programs include but are not limited to addiction, PTSD, tele-mental health, neuropsychology, pain management, MST, PCMHI and general mental health. The position also involves oversight of psychology internship and postdoctoral programs. 3. 40+ direct reports including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, psychologists, neuropsychologists, clinical social workers, addiction therapists and peer support specialists. 4. Management of key clinical, training and administrative programs to include full responsibility for managing the day-to-day activities of those programs. Strategic planning to ensure the provision of high quality services to meet the needs of Veterans being served in planning 5. Oversight of administrative and programmatic resources and deploys those resources in support of the program needs. They develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures to meet program goals, VHA policy and external accreditation requirements. They monitor outcomes using data driven quality assurance processes, and implement strategies for improvement based on data analysis. 6. Preparation of special reports and responses, Congressional responses, briefing papers, issue briefs, and decision papers for Medical Center leadership. 7. They will monitor the clinical performance of staff, conduct performance appraisals, and perform other clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure that the mission of the service and the Medical Center has been satisfied. They may set training objectives for staff and delegate responsibilities to subordinate sections. Clinical Responsibilities 1. May have direct responsibility for all aspects of behavioral health services in the program, including those conducted by trainees and staff. 2. Consult with and serves as a resource for other professional staff concerning the need for and development of behavioral health services. 3. Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and uses the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care. 4. Performs psychotherapy and psychological evaluations for all areas of the Health Care System on a consult basis, including but not limited to psychiatry, neurology, primary care, acute care, pulmonology (including transplant evaluations),and the nursing home care unit. 5. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including: individual therapy, marital/family therapy, group therapy, and substance abuse treatment. Academic/Teaching/Training Responsibilities 1. May hold faculty or adjunct appointment at affiliated university. 2. Develops and facilitates management of in-service training and career development programs for program staff members, in coordination with similarly targeted efforts conducted by Medical Center wide programs, and professional discipline chairs. 3. As needed, provides education and training to other Medical Center work units and staff. 4. May serve as faculty for local or network wide education and training. 5. Where appropriate, may serve as principal investigator or co-investigator in program based research projects and/or serve on an Institutional Review Board (IRB). 6. Provides clinical consultation to various disciplines and levels of training 7. Involved in professional training programs, such as practica, internships and residency programs. 8. Involved in the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, psychology interns, social work interns, and nursing students. 9. Provides leadership, guidance and consultation on staff education and development. 10. Orients, teaches, and serves as a consultant to other Healthcare System staff, Doctoral Psychology Interns and trainees and assists in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment of their patients.
