The Psychologist is assigned to the VA Medical Center at Memphis, and maintains a clinical caseload. In addition to providing direct patient care, this psychologist has administrative duties. The psychologist develops and implements programs, policies, and procedures to meet Psychology Training program goals, VHA policy and external accreditation requirements, monitor outcomes using data-driven quality assurance processes, and implements strategies for improvement based on data analysis. The Psychologist is assigned to the VA Medical Center at Memphis as the Psychology Training Director and maintains a clinical caseload. In addition to providing direct patient care (50%), this Psychologist has administrative duties as Psychology Training Director (50%). The Psychologist develops and implements programs, policies, and procedures to meet Psychology Training Program goals, VHA policy and external accreditation requirements, and monitors outcomes using data-driven quality assurance processes, and implements strategies for improvement based on data analysis. The Psychologist provides a full range of psychological assessment service and diagnosis mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients; provides education to patients, family members, and significant others, provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy; provides consultation to professional staff within VAMC Memphis and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plan for patients; develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders; functions independently as a member of the VAMC Memphis Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. Assumes complete professional responsibility for clinical assessment findings, patient care decision, and documentation; provides clinical supervision to psychology trainees. He/She has broad program management and operations responsibilities for the psychology training program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) at the Memphis VA (Psychology Internship and three Postdoctoral Fellowships) and a Predoctoral Practicum Program. Develops and implements program policies and procedures and maintains a comprehensive evaluation and records system consistent with APA, APPIC, and VACO guidelines. Is responsible for ongoing quality assessment activities, the development of training program self-studies and coordinating accreditation site visits for the internship and fellowship program. Chairs the Executive Training and Selection Committees, appropriately assigns/delegate program related work to staff and administrative assistant and ensures timely completion. Maintains current hard-copy and web-based informational resources for training programs. Directs orientation VA and UT Consortium trainees to the VA Medical Center. Manages all aspects of the APA accredited Psychology Internship Program and coordinates provision of clinical training and didactics by approximately 30 licensed providers across 25 rotations. Directs recruitment and selection of interns and fellows for these programs. Maintains strong cooperative relationship with the UT Consortium of which the Psychology Section at the VAMC is a member. Coordinates start/end dates, evaluation tools, orientation, and Comprehensive and Cultural Diversity Seminars jointly with the UT Consortium. Participates in Interagency Training Committee, accreditation self-study and site visits. Maintains communication with institution external to the Medical Center including APA, APPIC, VACO, Office of Academic Affiliations, state licensing boards, accredited doctoral training program and accredited pre-doctoral internships. Provides didactic education to psychology trainees, medical students and residents, and other health care professionals in seminars, morning report, and other educational forums.
