The incumbent serves as the Suicide Prevention Team Lead, overseeing the administrative and clinical aspects of the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System Suicide Prevention Program. The incumbent is administratively responsible for the program to ensure program compliance with national, local, Joint Commission, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facility (CARF) guidelines and directives. The incumbent determines and recommends the budgetary and staffing needs of the program. The incumbent plans, develops, implements and oversees all components of the Suicide Prevention Program. Duties include, but are not limited to: Lead Functions: Assists the Assistant Section Chief of Mental Health Social Work in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual and/or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the staff assigned to the TVHS Suicide Prevention Program. The incumbent has responsibility for coordinating staffing, work assignments and the treatment services provided by program staff. The incumbent works closely with the Assistant Section Chief of Mental Health Social Work to assist in establishing guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. The incumbent observes and provides performance feedback to the supervisor. The incumbent conducts ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies. Ensures the staff conduct and facilitate: routine suicide risk screens; comprehensive assessment and collaborative safety plan when clinically indicated; follow-up appointments for all Veterans upon initiation on the "High Risk for Suicide List" in compliance with VACO directives; follow-up with Veterans who fail to attend appointments per local procedures; consultation with the SPCs and SP CMs, or a MH Service supervisor as needed to ensure the safety and welfare of an at risk Veteran; and remain up-to-date on suicide prevention training materials and clinical tools, and utilize as appropriate in clinical practice. Monitors and distributes provider-specific workload reports to staff and ensures provider adherence to workload standards. Resolves informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Reviews, approves or disapproves leave and any potential clinic cancellation requests. Ensures that appropriate coverage is arranged for Veteran care responsibilities when staff members are on leave. Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
