The incumbent in this position serves as a Supervisor for Primary Care - Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) and Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Mental Health staff. The PCMHI Supervisor has broad program management responsibilities for PCMHI and CBOC Mental Health. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: The PCMHI Supervisor develops and implements programs, policies, and procedures to meet program goals, VHA policy and external accreditation requirements, and monitor outcomes using data-driven quality assurance processes and implement strategies for improvement based on data analysis. May participate in the supervision of students at various levels or training and will serve as consultant to other disciplines in behavioral and mental health. S/he participates in the professional activities of the Mental Health Service and the Medical Center at the direction or approval of the Chief and/or Section Chief of Mental Health. S/he will participate in the process of hiring and boarding staff in his/her area(s) and will provide licensure and/or other supervision of staff as needed. The position will be housed at the main medical center on Jefferson Avenue, but the incumbent will need to visit staff practicing in their clinical venues at the remote CBOCs. Ensures that direct patient care follows VACO and VISN guidelines in this area. Ensures that clinicians provide the highest quality of mental health care to veterans utilizing evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines. Responsible for effectively managing and supervising the program's resources including staff, funds, space and equipment-utilized in the development and direction of the mental health services, consultations, research, and training provided the veterans and staff of the medical center. Works with chiefs and supervisors of other services/organizations to resolve any substantive problems or areas of concern. S/he functions as a member of the Memphis VAMC Medical Staff with full clinical privileges. Clinical Responsibilities - 20% Time The incumbent should have a strong foundation in integrated mental health and leadership/business practices. S/he should possess good time management skills, be self-directed, and have good communication and negotiation skills to balance varied demands. The incumbent should be familiar with, and able to easily use a personal computer and be proficient in using word processing and data reporting programs. S/he should be able to present information professionally and complete work tasks in a timely manner. S/he should exhibit excellent customer service skills toward both patients and coworkers and remain positive even during times of high levels of stress. The incumbent should be able to work collegially with all other professions and should demonstrate tolerance of those with different opinions and/or attitudes.
